Anyone know if there is a difference between Launch Control, vs just turning of TC and using the Brake Torque method? I seem to get the same pre launch RPM just above 2 K either way, just curious if anyone has some suggestion on that

Like I said on the other thread, LC is built into the car and under warranty (ergo, safer). The caveat in the manual says to not do too many launches or too close together, as it poses a great stress on the transmission/drivetrain. This car's drivetrain is so protected by the ECU - obviously, as you showed by trying a brake torque "launch", and not getting higher RPM: you are either very brave or very foolish: that's a movie quote, by the way :P I doubt that anything less than a massive increase in horsepower will come near breaking the tranny much less blowing the engine (we also cannot over-rev the engine; the car won't let you).

I hear ya there Merlin, Would you think acceleration would be similar with either method considering the RPM is the same?

Yes. I do "manual" launches all the time: which are, hold the car with Auto Hold, foot on the gas: light turns green, roll and hit the kickdown switch, shifting up with the paddles. If I do LC (just did a perfect one yesterday) it feels exactly the same, even though I am letting the tranny do the shifting for me. This is by butt dyno. And that is as subjective as it gets. :P
