Bluetooth Firmware Update: How to stay connected

I have a 3.3GT2 with JB4 wireless bluetooth connection. Why don't I stay connected to the JB4 via my Android-powered app?

Attempting to install v13 update. I press the start engine button without my foot on the gas to turn on the power. Jb4 app indicates I am not connected. I connect without the engine on but it times out.

Anyone deal with this before? I have reset my phone, unplugged and plugged back in my Jb4.
