Blown tyre on country roads, panic, then resolution

I was driving 2 or so hours easy to visit parents when I decided to take a more scenic route so I turned off the motorway. I usually take this route but today I turned off at a different junction which lead me down an A road I haven't been before. Everything was fine until I saw a crashes mercedes in the trees with police tape all around it. It was a very eerie sight, and omen I suppose.

I listened to that omen and slowed down around corners until I got a patch of road with potholes, deep potholes. Depth was not the problem, the jagged edge of tarmac that caved was pointing towards traffic. I managed to dodge a few (very narrow country lane) until I hit one that was unavoidable. We felt a thud unlike what we have felt before.

Then I hear the car freaking out, "low tyre pressure warning" at the front passenger side.

I panicked, my AA subscription had just run out.

I saw a sign for a nearby town which I turned into. I stopped by a BP garage to refill the tyre so I have some more time while I research tyre places to go to. There were two KwikFits and another tyre shop. I was turned away from them all because I had not booked and they were busy.

This whole time, watching my pressure go down rapidly on the dash. When I got to the last place that turned me down, I opened the boot to find a tyre fix kit. It was tyre weld, a foam canister that was rated for 19inch wheels. I followed instructions and foamed her up, then drove immediately as per instructions to get the compound to flow everywhere. I then stopped at the same BP garage to top the car up again,but the tyre still leaked (giant crack in side wall), but nowhere near as much as before.
