So is it better to let the car shift on its own in Sport mode, or should you be using the paddle shifters to change gears at set rpm points?

And if so, what are the targeted rpm shift points for JB4 map 2/3/5 or ecu tuned car?
Would having intakes change these rpm points? I would think so, because all the dyno's I have seen show the intakes adding more power in the 5-6.5k range, extending the powerband of the engine.

What say'eth those with experience going down the qtr mile, or logging or using dragy?

I haven’t taken my car to the track but this is what I’ve learned so far. Per Kia the paddles do shift slightly faster than straight auto.

So on a Stock Stinger I’d say use the paddles and shift a little early around 5500-6k since the top end falls off after 5k RPM.

In theory you would want to do the same with a chip/tune, but I’ve heard a few people complain about the TCU getting confused with the extra acceleration and not shifting correctly with the paddles. Some people said they have no problems as long as they shift around 6k, but most say to just leave it in Sport mode with a chip/tune.

And with a free flowing intake and/or exhaust you probably can shift later around 6k-6250 to take advantage of the extra top end power.

Hope that helps and happy tuning!
