@Long Beach Jim
Seriously dude, don't come on the internet if you're not ready to be flamed a bit.
There is at least one other mirror in the car that can help make lane changes, not the least of which should primarily be turning your head. Also, there are blind spot monitors, which make accidentally merging into someone a willful act (because you'd have to ignore the beeping to do it).
Deadly situation? Major Lawsuit Liability?
Half the drivers on the road get around without looking in any mirrors, turning their heads, or even signalling! For you to come on the internet and pick such a nit, is really bizarre and screams "I think I'm really important and want to blame others for my own issues". I think you'll find very little support on a dedicated car forum.
With all of that said, the button there does blend seamlessly into the mirror controls, and my wife often toggled it over to Auto while adjusting the mirrors for her seat setting. Could this feature have been refined? Yes, and maybe a future iteration will move to a slider or a different position, or maybe a software update will make the mirrors extend over 15km/h despite the toggle setting. Who knows, but a Major Lawsuit Liability or Deadly Situation? Dude....
