AWD Launch Control

Hey i got the 2018 3.3l AWD stinger w/ k&n + brorla.. and this is my first car with launch control... i found out how to activate it and all is good.. my question is: when LC is activated is it normal i got my back wheels spinning (factory tires)? I dragged vs a S5 and he failed his start reaction time 3.7 sec so after i asked what happened so he showed me his LC had a timmer and if he held it too long it disactivated.. but i noticed his backwheels dont spin like mine...
