Posting to get rid of the banner. Don't have a Stinger. Yet. That's why I'm here, to learn as much about the Stinger as I can (pros and cons) before purchasing. Going to save up for few years to help make the monthly payment not hurt so much, so I'll have a lot of time to research.

It appears the main issue with the 2018 models is rattles/squeaks. Seems that most of the rattles/squeaks have been resolved with the 2019 MY. Would you all agree?

Also, anyone have any insight on what might be in store for the 2020 MY?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi, Thomas.

Actually, paint adherence is the number one noted complaint. Still rare, though.

If you add up all the complaints of extraneous noises they might equal total paint complaints. But the noises are apparently relatively addressable, take far less time and expense, and are altogether less distressing than finding areas on your new car that have failing paint or paint flaws. The only corrective for that is respraying, and that (going by the posts on the forum about it) can take weeks or even months; why, I don't know?

The most frustrating extraneous noise issue discussed is the sunroof. It is likely that most if not all issues will soon be resolved with a replacement of the front edge seal. We'll see.

The hatch rattle is the most common noise; since all trims of the Stinger have hatches and only most of them have sunroofs. The TSB on the hatch rattle has solved some but not all hatch rattle issues. Many owners have done their own hatch rattle solutions; involving inserting thicker washers under the adjustable bumper stops and/or the side bumpers.

Door ticks, roof ticks, dashboard ticks/rattles, make up the balance of extraneous noises; and these are the most frustrating to track down, but also are by far the least common.

I hope you don't have to wait "years" to get one of these, if you are attracted to them like I was. I remain a thorough fan of GT road trips because of this car; whereas, all my life prior to the Stinger, I've "looked forward" to road trips with mild to palpable dread. What a change of attitude "superpowers" can make!
