I was helping my son buy a Hyundai Elantra and while at the dealer, I saw the new EV, the Ioniq 6. I ended up buying it for some $45k. I have had the Ioniq 6 and it’s a great car in the city, over 350 mile range. However, on the highway at 75+ mph, range drops to 230 or less and since chargers are not at many exits, it’s cause for anxiety and other issues. Given my plans for cross country trips next year, I thought I could trade it. The GT2 appeals to me.

Unfortunately, local dealers are wanting to give me only $35k for my car, sell me a low mileage (under 15k miles) GT2 for around $44-45k. Coming up with $10k is too much.

I ran into a guy with a 2022 GT2 who wants an even trade but his GT2 has over 30k miles and likely driven hard. I didn’t accept it.

Now, there is a 2022 GT1 with under 5k miles available and I can likely make that trade. So, my question…Should I trade for the GT1 or hold off, try to sell my Ioniq6 privately, get a better price…Is there significant differences between the GT1 and GT2? There is a 2021 Infiniti Q60 coups available too. My goal is to get a comfortable car for long trips as well as commute in the city. I am a 75+ old retired guy.

'significant difference' is subjective. the main differences between '22 gt1 and gt2 are shifter, stereo, and missing convenience and luxury features in the gt1 - like powered liftgate, hud, and some creature comforts. as far as long distance driving comfort they are the same, and the 3.3l engine, of course.

Hey @Zahmed1094,

Welcome to the forum!

I love road-tripping and spending hours at a time in the car, which makes me really care about the interior of my car and how everything looks and feels.

Personally, I would go with the GT2 just based on how it feels and the shifter and screen.

I highly recommend the Stinger and its size over the Infiniti.

Let me know if you have any questions.
