My 2018 has issues with the tweeters phasing in & out. This happens regardless of XM, Bluetooth or Android Audio. There are moments when the sound is very defined in the highs, but then there is a sudden cut out in the highs. It's very odd & disheartening because I am huge on clarity. The upper frequencies sound amazing while they are operating as designed.

Help PLEASE

Clarifi on
Audience on

Stage On, Clari-Fi OFF. Try that. Most of us turn Clari-Fi OFF.

Also, how many rock concerts did you attend when a witless teen (or hopefully not later than that)? Done any shooting without ear protection, or worse, doing it wrong (like I did: had earplugs with cores, and had the cores pressed against my eardrums: that was a strange, counter-intuitive experience, thankfully never repeated). In other words, hearing loss is in the high frequencies range. Also, also: I only use USB sourced sound. You could try that and see if the tweeters cut out with a hardware source instead of streaming. The produced sound is only as good as the source; anything compressed will lose some high frequency clarity; and if you are truly an audiophile, it's possible that you notice this stuff before the common audience (like me).

I went to quite a few shows & I have played in several bands. Fortunately, I used earplugs most every time we practiced.

I have connected via USB under the principle of it being a direct in versus wireless. The same results occurred.

I wish the new cars still had cd players. It's a direct source & the reproduction was steadfast. You could increase clarity by simply upgrading the unit to a Alpine, JVC(made some killer ones in the early 2000s) or whatever floated your boat(Clarion, Blaupunkt & so on).

Now the receivers are it. Wait for a firmware update & be quiet. I am a MASSIVE audiophile. I love this damn system when it's firing on all cylinders. It's just a complete bed shitter when it sounds so clear & then drops.

This drives me nuts. It's like have a stuck, bright white pixel on an oled TV. That's a personal experience too, but it was maddening to me. To me, the audio issue is worse.

PS: Sorry to "that guy," who is bitching. That's my single issue with the car.

I would be bitching too if I heard any part of the sound range suddenly cut out. And I have no clue what could be causing that. Maybe there is a sound system "reflash" Kia can try (analogous to the transmission reflash to cure harsh shifts).
