So I just purchased a 2018 Stinger GT1 3.3l twin turbo with only 10k miles on in and i've had it for about 2 months now. When the kia dealer was selling me on it they said it had launch control, it shows it in the user manual (but pictured as a GT2 in the manual). When I turn off EPB and ESC while in sport mode, holding down the break and starting to press down on the acceleration, the engine starts to shake more than I would expect. I also do not get a "launch control ready" when doing so on my hud. Can anyone clarify if the 2018 GT1 has launch control or not? and if it does, are those irregular shakes normal? I dont want to destroy my transmission trying to do something if my car doesnt have it available.

Pretty sure the 2018 GT1 would have launch control. You need to be in sport mode and hold down the traction control/stability control button until both trac and stability control are off. Once they're both off and you're in sport mode, you should be able to initiate launch control by holding down the break and pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. After a couple of seconds you should see the launch control ready notice. Also, you shouldn't do this while the car is cold. Drive it around a bit until you're sure everything's up to operating temp.

As for the shaking, it shouldn't shake. RPM's should only go so high while you have the break on and the gas pedal floored and should hold it pretty smooth.

All Stinger trims have Launch Control.

I use launch control but only after the engine is up to operating temperature: I'll do a WOT burst (say, up an onramp) before oil temperature is c. 200, and the coolant gauge is fully heated (on my car, at c. "eleven o'clock"), but LC only gets used after both gauges indicate full operating temperatures. You don't have to press the throttle all the way to the floor to see the "launch control ready" sign pop up: just hold the brake with your left foot, and when the light turns green (or you're otherwise ready), just push down until you see the "ready" sign, let go of the brake and mash the go pedal all the way to the kickdown switch. Works every time the first time. You only get a few seconds of pushing the gas and the brake in LC mode before it will disengage anyway, so you can't hurt your car: LC is built to be very safe: it won't even turn ON if the transmission temperature gets too high: and the manual (as I'm sure you read) says not to do successive LCs when the tranny is that hot, i.e., don't keep trying to do LCs when you engage it and don't get the "ready" pop up.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.
