Just ordered a set of 20”x8.5” all the way around but thinking I may have made a mistake on tires. I want to put a UHPAS on so I am planning on going with Conti DWS06 in 255/35/20.

Am I making a big mistake going to an over diameter that is 1” larger? I can’t seem to find anything in a 30 profile without going to a straight summer tire, which I want to avoid.

What are others running on 20”x8.5”
Will I be okay with my tire selection?
Thanks.

Well, I wouldn't do it. Because the manual says "Verboten!" (that's how I take it, anyway) A whole inch bigger OD seems like a lot to me. It'll probably mess the speedo up by two or three MPH. And will it do anything to the other OD sensitive readings? Who knows.

Why not go summer tires on your very cool looking 20" rims and use A/S or winters on the OE GT rims when your roads turn to crap?

Did your car come with a staggered set-up in the first place? It's for a reason--because it handles better that way. The square set-up is a compromise for winter tires only. The DSW06 are nice tires, but you should stick to wider at the rear as this is the way the car was designed.

And no, if you want a lower profile sidewall, there is no issue going up a size to 20". Of course you have to ensure the total diameter is approximately the same as the originals.
